Guide: Full Under-Budget Tour of Paris
Paris is often seen as an expensive city, but during my recent trip, I discovered how to enjoy it on a budget without sacrificing the iconic experiences. Here’s how I explored the City of Light without blowing my savings.
Affordable Accommodation
Finding budget accommodation was my first step. I stayed in a charming but affordable hostel in the Latin Quarter. It was central, clean, and full of travelers from all over the world. Not only did it keep costs down, but it also allowed me to meet people who shared tips on budget-friendly Paris. I used booking sites like Hostelworld to score deals and always booked well in advance.
Free and Low-Cost Attractions
There are a ton of free or inexpensive attractions in Paris. I started my days by going to the beautiful and cost-free Luxembourg Gardens and Parc des Buttes-Chaumont. I also spent an afternoon exploring the Latin Quarter’s meandering streets, which made me feel like I was in a movie, and took advantage of the free admission to Notre-Dame Cathedral. Naturally, a visit to Paris would not be complete without taking in the free and stunning view of the Eiffel Tower from the Champ de Mars!
Public Transportation
I depended on the effective public transit system in Paris. I bought a Navigo Easy Card, which allowed unlimited travel for a cheap daily fee, and used the Metro and buses in instead of cabs and Ubers. I was able to move between districts without thinking about money because to this.
Budget Meals
Dining in Paris doesn’t have to be expensive. I discovered charming bakeries and neighborhood cafés instead of spending a lot of money on tourist attractions. I had quiche and fresh croissants for a couple of euros. Another inexpensive highlight was a picnic with baguette, cheese, and wine (bought at a nearby market) by the Seine River.
By making these frugal decisions, I was able to travel through Paris in a way that was both memorable and reasonably priced!
